Celebrating Recipients of the 2018 Heritage Awards

Award of Honour, Heritage Education and Awareness

It took 32 panels, 7 artists, along with the leadership of Syd Pickerell, for the murals to tell the story of agricultural development and pioneer life of the people of British Columbia. Springing out of the community value of “heritage preservation and exhibition”, one mural proudly depicts the relationship among the Kwantlen Nation, the salmon, and the Fort located on the banks of the Fraser River in Fort Langley; another illustrates the contribution of pioneering women of all ages while others show the many aspects of agriculture. With murals inside and outside the BC Farm Museum to complement their 5000 artifacts, British Columbia’s heritage is on proud and full display for all to see.

Congratulations to Syd Pickerell, BC Farm Museum Association

Last night, 11th May 2018, the Board of Directors of Heritage BC, at the awards dinner, recognized Syd Pickerell, seen receiving the HONOURS award, for the Museum Murals in the Heritage Education and Awareness category.
